The scientific study aimed at the synthesis of a designed phenothiazine derivative, followed by a comprehensive characterization of its physicochemical properties, and its application as a photosensitizer in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). The subsequent stage focused on evaluating the impact of structural modifications of the solar cell on its photovoltaic performance. The investigated modifications included the incorporation of a co-adsorbent, co-sensitization with additional dyes, as well as the introduction of blocking and scattering layers. Finally, the best-performing devices were examined under reduced light intensity conditions to assess their suitability for indoor photovoltaic applications.
