This dataset contains experimental data from the study entitled “Influence of foliar silicon on drought resilience, photosynthetic performance, and productivity in buckwheat” The experiment was conducted at the Poznań University of Life Sciences, Poland (52.430785° N, 16.917130° E), during the 2025 growing period (July-October). Buckwheat plants (Fagopyrum esculentum cv. Smuga) were grown under well-watered (80-90% FC) and drought (30% FC) conditions and treated with different concentrations of foliar-applied silicon in the form of sodium metasilicate nonahydrate (Na₂SiO3·9H₂O) at 0, 0.5, 1.0, and 2.0 mM. Measurements were performed during progressive drought stress and after stress recovery (re-irrigation).
The dataset includes the following files:
The file Plant_Morphology.xlsx – Contains data on plant height, stem diameter, and leaf area development (except recovery data) measured over time during the treatment period (days after treatment, DAT 1–16).
The file Physiological_Indicator.xlsx – Includes relative water content (RWC, %) and electrolyte leakage (EL, %), measured after prolonged drought stress.
The file Gas_Exchange.xlsx – Provides gas exchange parameters, including net CO2 assimilation rate (A), stomatal conductance (gs), intercellular CO2 concentration (Ci), and electron transport rate (ETR), measured at four time points during stress progression (DAT 1-16) and once after recovery.
The file OJIP_Kinetics.xlsx – Contains chlorophyll a fluorescence induction curves (OJIP transients) recorded at four time points during drought stress (DAT 1-16) and after recovery.
The file OJIP_Parameters.xlsx – Includes derived chlorophyll fluorescence parameters such as Fv/Fm, PIabs, ΦEo, and ΦDo.
The file Yield_and_Biomass.xlsx – Contains harvest data collected at maturity after recovery, including whole-plant fresh and dry weight, total seed number, total seed dry weight, and the dry weight of 50 seeds.
