Description

The Moravian Missionaries Arctic Meteorological Database (MMAND) is a complementary database of early instrumental meteorological observations collected at Moravian Brethren mission stations in southwestern Greenland (Neu-Herrnhut and Godthåb) and along the Labrador coast (Hebron, Hopedale [Hoffenthal], Nain, Okak [Okkak], Rama, and Zoar). It covers the period 1767–1939 and includes air temperature, atmospheric pressure, and wind speed and direction at sub-daily and daily temporal resolutions, as well as the following biometeorological indices: Wind Chill Temperature, Wind Chill Index, and Insulation Predicted. The MMAND includes both available originally measured (or statistically processed: daily, monthly, etc. averages) and corrected data.
