The dataset consists of Particle-Size Distribution (PSD) data and multi-sample sediment statistics from laboratory-based grain-size analyses in Mastersizer, conducted on samples collected during field campaigns between 2024 and 2025 in the Subarnarekha River Estuary.
The investigation aims to characterise the grain-size composition and textural characteristics of SPM-derived and directly collected sediment samples and assess their seasonal and spatial variability within the Subarnarekha River estuary. Sampling covered the post-monsoon season of 2024, pre-monsoon, and monsoon season of 2025, across selected estuarine locations and cross-sectional positions.
The dataset consists of laboratory-based analyses of field samples:
• Grain-size analysis using Malvern Mastersizer 3000 particle-size analyser using laser diffraction;
• Particle-Size Distribution (PSD) data derived from Mastersizer measurement;
• Multi-sample sediment statistics calculated from PSD using GRADSITAT Software.
The dataset includes 45 analytical sample series. Sampling was done at four sites: Rajghat (RA), Pantei Ghat (PA), Chaumukh/Chaumukh Ghat (CH), and Chandrabali Beach (CB), with cross sections fixed along the Left Bank (LB), Mid-Channel (MC), and Right Bank (RB).
The dataset provides information on sediment PSD, cumulative PSD, grain-size statistics and sediment textural characteristics of the analysed materials. These data can be used to compare sediment particle properties between sampling locations and sediment sources and to assess spatial variability in particle-size characteristics throughout the Subarnarekha River estuarine system.
