The deposited dataset consists of seven Microsoft Excel (.xlsx) files and includes the results of biological and chemical studies conducted within the Horizon Europe project “CARina”. The aim of the project was to evaluate the potential of cold-pressed oils derived from Camelina sativa and Brassica carinata as an environmentally friendly tool for the sustainable protection of forests against the pine-tree lappet moth (Dendrolimus pini). The project focused on identifying alternatives to synthetic insecticides by combining analyses of the chemical composition of the oils with assessments of their effects on insect development, survival, and reproduction. The data form the basis of the publication entitled “Cold-pressed Camelina sativa and Brassica carinata oils as a new tool for sustainable control of Dendrolimus pini”.

The chemical part of the dataset includes the files flavonoids.xlsx and phenolic acids.xlsx, which contain quantitative data on the concentrations of flavonoids and phenolic acids in the investigated oils, determined using UPLC (Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography). Rows correspond to individual oil samples, while columns report the concentrations of the analyzed compounds.

The biological part of the dataset consists of five files. weight of larvae.xlsx contains measurements of the body weight of individual larvae recorded on consecutive days of the experiment, stored in a long-format structure, with unique individual identifiers and assignment to experimental groups (control, CS, BC). length of developmental stages.xlsxincludes data on the duration of larval and pupal stages, taking into account sex and experimental group. morphometric parameters of pupae.xlsx provides morphometric characteristics of pupae (weight, length, and width), together with information on sex and group. number of eggs.xlsx documents the number of eggs laid in the respective experimental groups. survival analysis.xlsx contains data prepared for larval survival analysis, including time to event, event status (0 – censored observation, 1 – event), and group. The data were generated and initially processed using Microsoft Excel.

Zdeponowany zbiór danych składa się z siedmiu plików w formacie Microsoft Excel (.xlsx) i obejmuje wyniki badań biologicznych oraz chemicznych prowadzonych w ramach projektu Horyzont Europa pod akronimem "CARina", którego celem była ocena potencjału olejów tłoczonych na zimno z Camelina sativa oraz Brassica carinata jako ekologicznego narzędzia zrównoważonej ochrony lasów przed barczatką sosnówką (Dendrolimus pini). Projekt koncentrował się na poszukiwaniu alternatywy dla syntetycznych insektycydów poprzez połączenie analiz składu chemicznego olejów z oceną ich wpływu na rozwój, przeżywalność i reprodukcję owada. Dane stanowią podstawę publikacji pt. “Cold-pressed Camelina sativa and Brassica carinata oils as a new tool for sustainable control of Dendrolimus pini”.

Część chemiczna zbioru obejmuje pliki flavonoids.xlsx oraz phenolic acids.xlsx, zawierające dane ilościowe dotyczące zawartości flawonoidów i kwasów fenolowych w badanych olejach, oznaczonych metodą UPLC (Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography). Wiersze odpowiadają poszczególnym próbom olejów, natomiast kolumny zawierają stężenia oznaczanych związków.

Dane zostały wytworzone i wstępnie opracowane w Microsoft Excel.
