Research data for publication funded by the GREEN-MAP project. Includes DSC, X-ray, AFM, POM and SEM analyzes. The paper presents research on the liquid crystal (LC) properties of poly(L-lactide) (PLLA), which was prepared with the use of a press in order to develop a comprehensive characterization of (bio)degradable polyesters obtained by pressing. Pressed PLLA films show a unique ability to self-assemble into a nematic mesophase under the influence of mechanical pressure, temperature and appropriate time. It has also been shown that a chiral nematic mesophase can be obtained by introducing a fine powder into a polymer matrix. Based on the research conducted, it was proved that the pressed films have a stable chiral nematic mesophase, which can persist for years at ambient temperature. Various textures were obtained, including the colored planar texture of the chiral nematic mesophase, and the blue phase, first time described in plain PLLA.

W pracy przedstawiono badania właściwości ciekłokrystalicznych poli(L-laktydu) (PLLA), który został przygotowany przy użyciu prasy w celu opracowania kompleksowej charakterystyki (bio)degradowalnych poliestrów otrzymywanych poprzez sprasowanie. Sprasowane folie PLLA wykazują unikalną zdolność do samoorganizacji w fazę nematyczną pod wpływem nacisku mechanicznego, temperatury i odpowiedniego czasu. Wykazano również, że chiralną fazę nematyczną można otrzymać przez wprowadzenie drobnego proszku do matrycy polimerowej. Na podstawie przeprowadzonych badań udowodniono, że wytłoczone folie posiadają stabilną chiralną fazę nematyczną, która w temperaturze otoczenia może utrzymywać się przez wiele lat. Otrzymano różne tekstury, w tym kolorową teksturę planarną chiralnej fazy nematycznej oraz fazę niebieską opisaną po raz pierwszy w przypadku samego PLLA.
