This dataset presents experimental data on the effects of foliar silicon application on the growth and photosynthetic efficiency of common buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum cv. Smuga) under drought and waterlogging conditions. At twenty days after sowing, the plants were divided into three groups: (i) a well-irrigated control group, (ii) a drought-stressed group maintained at 30% soil moisture, and (iii) a waterlogging-stressed group, in which the root zone was submerged in 12 cm of water for 15 days. For each treatment, twelve plants were maintained. Each group was further divided into two sets: one set was foliarly sprayed with dH2O, while the other was sprayed with 1 mM sodium metasilicate nonahydrate (Na2SiO3·9H2O) at a dose equivalent to 400 L ha−1 as a Si supplementation. The dose per plant was calculated based on a planting density of 150 plants per square meter. Drought and waterlogging conditions were maintained for 15 days, with the first foliar spray applied at the beginning of the stress period. After this phase, the drought- stressed plants were re-irrigated, and the waterlogged plants were removed from excess water. This marked the beginning of the recovery phase, which lasted 15 days, with a second foliar spray applied at the start of this period. At the end of both the stress and recovery phases, various morphological, physiological, and photosynthetic attributes were measured.
