4. Methodological information
The study was available online in the form of a closed group survey (i.e. it was not possible to complete it without being granted access to it) and addressed to women who had at least one child no younger than two years old and no older than eighteen years old. Participants were recruited in an ecological context through the community-based organizations and parental groups on social media. On the homepage but before completing the questionnaire, information appeared that the study was voluntary and anonymous, and that the respondents had the right to stop completing it at any time or to refuse to answer some questions. In case of any questions or doubts, they were able to contact the person responsible for this questionnaire by email. The respondents were able to continue completing the questionnaire only when they accepted this information and agreed to participate in the study. The homepage was visited approximately 500 times, but not all the visitors decided to complete the study. There were 239 participants included in further analysis. The study design was approved by Ethical Committee (16/2026). All respondents were Polish mothers.
The analysis of the results was performed with the use of PS IMAGO PRO Academic (version 11) and JASP (version 0.96). The autor implemented variable-center analysis: The analysis of mean values with the use of k-means clustering made it possible to identify groups of mothers with different level of PB that are as homogenous as possible within the group and as heterogonous as possible between the groups. The second analyses was the regression analyses that will explore which aspects of the body self can predict PB levels. This study adopts an exploratory approach without predefining hypotheses.
