Dataset comprising of morphological features of Poa annua specimens from different populations, that were grown in ex-situ simulation of antarctic conditions to study P. annua ability to live a perennial lifestyle.
Data was prepared and used for publication"Is Poa annua a skin-changer? Annual-perennial life history shift enables the species to conquer Antarctica" by Rudak A, Galera H and Wódkiewicz M. 2025.
Table "All Measurments" is main raw data file that includes all measuments that were done as a part of the experiment. Plants were grown for two vegetative antarctic seasons with one period of simulated antarctic winter between them,
Ident_pop - There are nine different populations (8 populations from seeds collected in 2015 and one population from Antarctica from seeds collected in 2010)
variant - one_year means that the plant was harvested and measured after one vegetative season, and two_year means that the plant was harvested and measured after two vegetative seasons
Studied traits included in table:
adv_roots - is a binary factor whether adventitious roots were noticed in plant
height - height of aboveground part of the plant (in cm)
dry_above_biomass - weight of dried aboveground biomass (in g)
biomass_allo - Is a biomass allocation ratio between dry aboveground and dried belowground biomass of the plant
plant_arch - is a ratio of height of the plant to largest chord of ellipsoid being an approximation of plant's shape from above view - it was measured using photography analyzed in ImageJ software.
shoots - number of all shoots of the plant
flower_day - first day of observed flowering counting from germination
Table "Values of post hoc Tukey test" consists of all post-hoc Tukey grouping values between studied populations in both variants.
