New class of foldamer-based mimetics of lipopeptides, called lipooligoureas has been demonstrated including synthesis and physicochemical as well as biological characterization. Lipooligoureas display antimicrobial activity and inhibit the growth of MRSA strains. They also show increased stability against proteolytic degradation in human blood serum. Structural differences in oligourea moiety determine their aggregation behavior and the aggregation ability correlates with antimicrobial activity.
