The dataset contains the results of numerical simulations of sea spray aerosol over the entire globe, with a spatial resolution of 1° and a temporal resolution of 6 h, covering the period from 1 January 2004 to 31 December 2004. The simulations were performed using the NAAPS aerosol transport model and the Fu–Liou radiative transfer model. The dataset includes five different parameterizations of sea spray aerosol emissions.
The data are provided in MATLAB binary format (.mat). The file contains a structure named DATA with six data fields:

The dimensions of the arrays are ordered as follows:
The spatial grid has a resolution of 1° × 1° and covers the entire globe. The data therefore provide monthly global fields for each of the six SSA emission parameterizations. The radiative-effect variables additionally provide values at three levels: the surface, the tropopause, and the top of the atmosphere.
The six sea-spray aerosol (SSA) emission parameterizations considered in the simulations represent combinations of two reference emission formulations and three sea-surface temperature (SST) treatments:
Thus, the six cases combine two sea-spray emission formulations (Sofiev and Gong) with either the reference treatment or one of two SST correction schemes.
