Description

A subset of the Polish Panel Survey (POLPAN) 1988–2023 cumulative file, prepared for the project ‘Paltry Pensions’ in the Context of the Sense of Social Justice and the Goals of Pension Policy. A Multidimensional Sociological Analysis.

It contains 63 variables for the 1,043 respondents who reached the statutory retirement age (65 for men, 60 for women) in the 2018 wave (n = 805), the 2023 wave (n = 722), or both (n = 484); the 484 cases observed in both waves form the balanced panel used in the analysis.

The variables cover employment and pension status, household income and composition, the emotional-reaction scale, subjective physical health, education, marital status, religious attendance, place of residence, and, for the 2018 wave, indicators of financial hardship, together with respondent identifiers, wave indicators, age, gender, and the 2023 post-stratification weight.

Variables are stored in their original coding with question and value labels preserved. Extracted from the pre-release 2023 wavefile, so figures may differ marginally from the final public POLPAN release.
