Title: Eye-Tracking Research on the Panorama of Ostrow Tumski - Pilot Study
Participants: 62 participants (PL / 35 women and 27 men, 18-72 years) with complete and high-quality data (82 individuals were recruited).
Date: first week of October 2023:
Place: Participants started and ended their route in the park in front of the main entrance to the National Museum. The study was conducted in the eastern section of the Xawery Dunikowski Boulevard in Wrocław. The route was determined following an analysis of circulation and views of the Ostrow Tumski Panorama.
Apparatus: Pro Glasses 3 eye-tracker (120Hz) + Tobii Pro Corrective Lenses set, ranging from -8.0 to +3.0 diopters.
Software used: Glasses Controller + Tobii Pro Lab
Eye tracking Data Processing: The data underwent anonymization. Recordings were processed in Tobii Pro Lab. Fixation points made during the second segment of the walk were mapped onto a prepared analytical background, indicating AOI (Areas of Interest) corresponding to the most important landscape components: AOI Cathedral, AOI Church, AOI Alumnat. Fixations made by participants between AOI Cathedral and AOI Alumnat were assigned to the separate AOI UNCERTAIN group. For later data interpretation, fixations made on the easternmost building, AOI Convent, were also collected. Further analysis was conducted using generated Excel reports
Additional Study Elements: The interview and puzzle were intended to assist in interpreting the gaze-tracking route through the Ostrow Tumski landscape.
Verbal data: At the end of the walk, when the participant descended from the boulevard, two questions were asked: How many times a week do you walk through this boulevard?; Please describe in your own words, what you saw across the river a moment ago? Responses were recorded by the ET microphone.
Puzzle data: After the walk, participants were asked to assemble a puzzle. the time of task execution and its correctness were analyzed.
