The aim of these measurements was to demonstrate how the uniaxial strain imposed by the nanomembranes affects the optical properties of monolayer MoS2. Based on spatially resolved photoluminescence (PL), reflectivity and Raman scattering we probe changes in the optical response related to the strained area of the structures. These measurements show that in the strained areas of the sample PL and Raman response change allowing for efficient strain area mapping. Moreover, with the use of polarization-resolved PL measurements, we show that the imposed uniaxial strain results in linearly polarised PL emission (degree of linear polarization 10%–15%) and energy splitting of (≃1–2 meV) of trion transition in MoS2.

File "NM_confocal_X45Y35_win620_500uW_10s" contains 1575 raw spectra from a spatially resolved measurement of PL - map size 45 x 35 spectra => 44 x 34 um^2 spectra are arranged in two columns.
File "RamanMap2_5sX10_41x36_1476" contains 1476 raw spectra of spatially resolved measurement (map) of Raman scattering - map size 41 x 36 spectra => 40 x 35 um^2. Spectra are arranged in two columns.
File "TopFlake_Rmap_focusedWL_win550To700_500msX5_61x41_2501" contains 2501 raw spectra of spatially resolved measurement (map) of Reflectivity - map size 61 x 41 spectra => 60 x 40 um^2. Spectra are arranged in two columns.
File "R0" is the white light reference for the reflectivity map spectra.
File "PL confocal polarized 3 spots and RefFlake.zip" contains individual spectra "PLpolConfocal_'spotname'_500uW_20s_win640_HW_'angle'" for 4 spots (3 on nanomembranes and 1 on reference flat flake) designated by different 'spotname' for each spot series angle indicated the halfwave plate orientation (allowing to track evolution of the PL response as a function of the selected orientation of linear polarization) Real polarization angle is double the HW_angle value. These measurements serve to determine the liner polarization orientation of the light emitted by the structure. The reference spot was measured on the unstrained part of the structure.
