Provided here sur files contain data gathered during micro end milling experiments. The data are the 3D machined surface topographies measured with a use of laser interferometer.

The dataset provides the outcome of the micro milling experiment conducted on Inconel 718 super alloy. The experiment has been conducted on ultra-precise prototype micromilling machine tool. The tests included the measurements of a machined 3D surface topographies. The conducted tests have been carried out with the application of cemented carbide micro end mill with a nominal diameter of 1.5 mm and with the variable feed per tooth values (3 μm, 6 μm, 9 μm), variable radial depths of cut (300 μm, 700 μm) and variable rotational speeds (5100 rev/min, 8100 rev/min, 11 100 rev/min), as well as constant axial depths of cut (100 μm). Each of the dataset files contains a collection of surface topography measurement points defined in the 3 axes (X axis - a surface topography coordinates defined in the feed direction, Y axis - a surface topography coordinates defined in the feed normal direction, Z axis - a surface topography coordinates defined in the vertical direction). During measurements the surface profiler equipped with white light interferometric objective has been applied, which has a numerical aperture of 0.5, as well as 25-fold magnification and a range equal to 1.2 mm. An areas of 0.6 mm x 0.6 mm were selected to conduct the measurements. A scanning resolution of 0.2 µm (in both X and Y axes) was employed.
