Description

Initial configurations of a highly elastic fiber in a shear flow, used in the numerical simulations in Ref. [1]. A fiber is modeled as a chain of N beads with the elastic interactions described in Ref. [1]. The initial configuration of a fiber is determined by the x,y, and z coordinates of the centers of all the beads, using the bead diameter as the length unit.

N40.zip is a zip file of the "N40" directory consisting of 9 subdirectories named A01, A02,...,A09, created for different values of the bending stiffness parameter A. In the directory A01, for which A=0.1, there are 6 initial orientations of fibers in files labeled s1-6.dat. In each of these files there is a matrix with 40 rows and 3 columns. In each row there are individual x,y,z coordinates of each bead of the 40 element fiber . Analogous data are in subdirectories A02, A03, A04, A05, A07, A08, A09, where A=0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.7, 0.8, 0.9, respectively. In subdirectory A06 there are 40 files containing 40 different initial orientations of the fiber with the structure described above. The names of these files are as follows s1-40.dat.

N60.zip is a zip file of the "N60" directory, consisting of 2 subdirectories named A05 and A1, created for different values of the bending stiffness parameter A. The A05 directory, for which A=0.5, contains 40 different fiber starting positions in files labeled s1-40.dat. Each of these files contains a matrix with 60 rows and 3 columns. Each row contains the individual x,y,z coordinates of each bead of the 60 element fiber. In subdirectory A1, where A=1, there are also 40 different starting orientations of fibers in files labeled s1-40.dat. The data structure in the individual files is the same as in subdirectory A05.
