This dataset includes all supporting files for the manuscript "The Influence of Rotor-Stator Contact on the Nonlinear Vibration of an Asymmetrical Rotor". The study investigates the complex nonlinear dynamics of a rotating, asymmetric shaft under rotor-stator contact using a combination of analytical modeling and numerical simulation.
The repository is organized to reflect the structure of the manuscript, with folders corresponding to its main subsections:
π 1. Analytic verification
Related to Subsection 4.1 β Verification
Includes symmetric and asymmetric case studies using both analytical (Maple) and numerical (MATLAB) methods. Also contains:
- Figures comparing analytical and numerical solutions
- Scripts for bifurcation diagrams and parameter studies
- Error analysis routines
π 2. Rotational speed
Related to Subsection 4.2 β The effect of the rotating speed
Contains MATLAB code and result files for bifurcation and Lyapunov exponent analysis over varying rotational speeds.
π 3. Asymmetricity effect
Related to Subsection 4.3 β The effect of asymmetricity
Includes two parts:
- Non-impact figure analysis: Influence of asymmetric inertia and stiffness in the absence of contact.
- Bifurcation and Lyapunov analysis: Behavior under contact with increasing asymmetry.
π 4. Contact stiffness
Related to Subsection 4.4 β The effect of impact stiffness
Provides scripts and plots for studying dynamic transitions under varying contact stiffness levels, including chaotic regimes and bifurcation diagrams.
π 5. Damping coefficient
Related to Subsection 4.5 β The effect of damping coefficient
Demonstrates how damping influences transitions between periodic, quasi-periodic, and chaotic motions, with bifurcation and Lyapunov plots.
π 6. Slenderness ratio
Additional Parametric Study (Appendix C)
Analyzes the effect of slenderness ratio on rotor dynamics in the absence of contact. Includes comparisons for different geometries (e.g., cross-section ratios).
π 7. Position of Disk
Additional Parametric Study (Appendix C)
Explores how the location of the added disk along the shaft affects dynamic response characteristics.
Usage Notes:
- Scripts are primarily written in MATLAB (R2020a or newer recommended).
- Analytical models are implemented in Maple (
.mw
