The deposited data were collected as part of the research project entitled ‘Zjawisko rozbryzgu jako mechanizm transportu mikroorganizmów glebowych’, eng. ‘Splash phenomenon as a mechanism of transportation of soil microorganisms’, financed by the National Science Centre, Poland as part of the project under the OPUS 23 call (project no. 2022/45/B/NZ9/00605). The project is concerned with the quantitative and qualitative description of bacterial transport during the soil splash phenomenon induced by the impact of a raindrops. The accompanying data relate to the splash characteristics of soils susceptible to water erosion in terms of splash affected by the single drop impact. This constitutes the physical aspect of the splash phenomenon that influences the transport of soil microorganisms in this manner.
The research was conducted from November 2024 to May 2025 at the Institute of Agrophysics, Polish Academy of Sciences in Lublin (Poland). The collection contains: 1) image frames from the recorded soil splash phenomenon on the various soils, 2) the data on tracking ejected particles during splash in 3D space (trajectories of splashed particles). The data were compiled on the basis of laboratory tests.
The dataset consists of the following files:
A) A_1 Images from high-speed cameras.zip – selected image frames from the recording of soil splash phenomenon on the various soils affected by the single drop impact. The data were obtained by a set of Phantom Miro M310 high-speed cameras. A detailed description can be found in the attached file (readme.txt).
B) A_2 Tracking of splashed particles.zip – raw data on tracking ejected particles during splash in 3D space using Phantom Miro M310 high-speed cameras' set combined with the PTV (Particle Tracking Velocimetry) module, and obtained (exported) from DynamicStudio 8.0 software (Dantec Dynamics, Denmark). A detailed description can be found in the attached file (readme.txt).
