The aim of the study was to analyze the mRNA and protein expression of sirtuin 6 (SIRT6) in the endometrium during early pregnancy (days 10 to 30) in pigs. Moreover, we used porcine endometrial explants and/or luminal epithelial cells to examine the possible regulation of SIRT6 expression by conceptus products and progesterone, and to determine the effect of SIRT6 on prostaglandin E2 synthesis, apoptotic markers, proliferation, cell cycle progression, and cell adhesion.
